Combating Nuisance Calls

Combating Nuisance Calls

The frequency of nuisance calls is on the increase as advertisers use more and more insidious means of getting through to us to get their advertising messages across.

Considered as cell phone spamming we are often getting phone calls throughout the day (and often throughout the night as well) from companies trying to sell us products and services.

Where are they getting our cell phone numbers from?

This is a good question. Often it is from the cell phone carriers who offer special or ultra cheap or free cell phone services. You accept these special offers without reading the very fine print on the service agreement which allows them to then on sell the phone numbers to marketing and sales companies.

This is very annoying and often these companies hide their numbers so you are not able to screen who the calls are coming from.

Fortunately this is not always the case as companies are realizing that they must allow their numbers to be seen if they want to prospect to even answer. Many people, including the writer of this article refuses to answer cell phone calls if the caller number has been blocked from being seen.

After all, who would block their number if they had no reason to hide their identity in the first place. Debt collectors perhaps? Even if you are not being hounded by debt collectors, who else would hide their number if they had no legitimate reason for not being seen in the first instance.

The trick is to do a reverse cell lookup when you don’t know the identity of a caller. If it is from a company then you’ll know to bar their calls in future.

You could even take it so far as to make a complaint against the offending company and they will be forced to take you off their prospect list and leave you in peace.

There are laws in place which protect cell phone owners from receiving nuisance calls from marketing and sales departments of companies, even if you accidentally accepted a special price service without realizing what you were letting yourself into.

Stop the nuisance callers by doing a reverse cell lookup and getting back at the offenders before they wake you up in the middles of the night.
